From San Antonio
You can arrive in Fredericksburg, TX via San Antonio, taking the I-10 West towards Comfort,TX, and then taking the exit onto US-87 North until you reach the city center.
From Boerne
If you prefer a more scenic route, you can exit northwest on US-87 North from Boerne and cover approximately 70 miles.
From Austin
If you’re coming from Austin, you can take either US-290 West, a section of it known as the wine route, for 78 miles until you reach Main Street in Fredericksburg.
During your spring drive, you’ll get to enjoy the hills covered in wildflowers as you make your way to downtown Fredericksburg.

Start your spring in Fredericksburg, by visiting the largest working wildflower farm, Wildseed Farms. The farm covers about 200 acres of wildflowers and vineyards, including a half-mile walking trail.
They offer various spring events that are a must-visit, including the Bud Break Festival, Wildflower Celebration, and Mother’s Day Wildflower Run.
During your visit, don’t forget to stock on your wildflower seeds, including Texas Bluebonnets, poppies, and culinary herbs, to add flavor to your home-cooked dishes. You can also visit their wine-tasting room to sample vintages; we recommend a taste of their Tempranillo.
Hike Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

Visit the natural wonder known as Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg, TX. It is a massive pink granite dome that you can hike to and enjoy the panoramic views of Texas Hill Country.

Explore some of the best wineries in Texas down the Fredericksburg Wine Road 290. Each winery has its own story and appeal as well as tasting rooms and award-winning Texas wines.

Take a Scenic Bike Ride in Gillespie County
Gillespie County has miles upon miles of scenic views you can enjoy during a bike ride. If you like history, you can cycle the 120-mile trail that takes you through 17 historic schools in the area.
For those who prefer mountain biking, there are plenty of areas in and around Fredericksburg with challenging terrain to try, including Hill Country State Natural Area and the Wolf Mountain Trail or the Juniper Ridge Trail at the Pedernales Fall State Park.

Learn about the Heritage at the Museums

Lastly, the Pioneer Museum showcases the town’s pioneer and settler legacy. During spring break at the Pioneer Museum, they feature living history reenactments that are fun to watch, including chuckwagon cooking and butter churching.

The Jenschke Orchards grows around 30 varieties of peaches and has year-round agritourism activities for the whole family to partake in.
During springtime, you can pick your own strawberries (between February and May) or peaches (between May and September). They also have kid-friendly activities, including jumpy pillow, tile maze, cowboy roping, and wagon rides.
